Who am I?

Hello, I'm Elijah Arant, a 3D Generalist. I have professional experience making 3D Visual Effects and personal experience with 3D Modelling, Animation, Physics simulations, Fluid Simulations, and texturing/shading the objects I make.

My Animation Reel

Upon entering this website the first thing you see on the homepage is a video, that is my animation Reel. It's still a work in progress, but everything inside that animation reel was made by me using Blender, except for one part. At the end when the Submarine rises out of the blueprint that scene was designed by the fine folks at ABLEvfx who graciously allowed me to include it in my reel. The part that I played in that segment was the Fluid simulation, making the water and foam react realistically to the sub rising out of it. I remember having to manually export every frame of the fluid simulation as a .obj object so that my employers could turn them into an obj sequence in a different program.

Everything else was made by me, the spaceship scenes were modeled, textured, and animated by me specifically for this reel, a small detail I added was keyframing the steering thrusters (the ones emitting small green flames) so they would move with the ship and supposedly steer it in a semi-realistic way. The ship itself was a loose interpretation of a ship on the cover of the "Carmen Miranda's Ghost" album. At a point near the end I fractured an asteroid that gets shot and explodes, I used After Effects to rotoscope the asteroids shards closest to the foreground and separate them so I could put the explosion effect behind them. For the explosion itself I used an effect that my employer gave me permission to use, rotated it, and changed it's color in After Effects to better make it fit in with the scene, layering the initial impact over the asteroid and the rest of the explosion behind it. The asteroid explodes pretty fast so in order to compensate I cut up the explosion effect into individual parts, selecting singular frames of the effect so that the frame rates would line up.

The balloon scene was made using a balloon I had made for a separate project that ABLEvfx had worked on, it's mostly there to act as a transition between the cannon and the spaceship scenes. As for the Nike logo animation that was an After Effects project to develop my logo animation abilities. Beyond that the Reel is still being developed so things are prone to change as I develop better animations.
